The Cosmo Exhibition Series 2024
My new graphic works draw on the styles, techniques and nostalgia of some of Australia’s wonderful twentieth century travel poster artists; Percy Trompf, James Northfield, Henry Rousel, as well as the 1912 Wills cigarette cards Birds of Australia. These stylised and romantic celebrations of our iconic tourist destinations and unique creatures continue to engage.
The limited edition works of common bird species portray their powerful beauty and character in bushland settings. Tragically and barely acknowledged, most are vulnerable in our ever shrinking Eden from over development, habitat loss and climate change. Most bird species are in decline. Yes, even Kookaburras and Magpies.
So re-wild we say! Tread lightly. Julie’s mantra, “Gardening will save the planet.” Fingers crossed.
Prior to our move to Newbury in 2022, the Central Highlands regions of Victoria was a space on a map. Now we know differently. Surrounded by nature this is an inspiring place to live.
